Lea Gardens
One of the most beautiful walks in Matlock
Covering approximately three and a half acres, Lea Gardens boasts a beautiful collection of rhododendrons. The Garden is just south of Matlock. With a very popular teashop, guests can spend a pleasant afternoon browsing round over 500 varieties of rhododendrons and azaleas amongst other plant varieties.
Situated on the edge of the Peak District National Park, Lea Gardens is a great place to relax and venture through the many paths within the woodland area.
The Gardens also sell rhododendrons among other plants in a variety of sizes at very reasonable prices. The Gardens are located just 3 miles south of Matlock.
A family run garden
The in-season opening hours are 10am to 5pm. The collection of rhododendrons has been growing here since its inception in 1935, with records showing that plants were supplied from the leading growers and breeders of the 1930s. Throughout the 1930s, the collection grew to around 350 different varieties of rhododendron and azalea.
If you’re looking to explore the many different varieties of plant on offer, or just fancy a leisurely stroll around the beautiful gardens, then Lea Gardens is a great place to visit. Not forgetting of course to call in at the attractive teashop on your way.
Lea Gardens welcomes well behaved dogs, providing they are kept on a lead.
