Lovely day out in Matlock
A TripAdvisor Certificate of Excellence Winner for two years in a row, Matlock Park Farm provides fun for all the family. A great day out, children can learn all about life on the farm and meet all the different animals. Depending on the season, children can also feed the lambs on the farm.
The farm is open seven days a week, (depending on the season, it is advisable to check before travelling) and is home to an array of animals such as llamas, peacocks, rabbits, goats and red deer. The farm has specifically created playgrounds so there’s endless fun to be had.
For those looking to take away more than just the memories of the day, the farm has a gift shop where you can purchase a souvenir to commemorate the fun had on the farm!
To top it off, the farm also has a Go Kart track, with karts in suitable sizes for children and adults. For those who find go karting more of a spectator sport, there’s plenty of room to sit and watch the fun.
The farm’s adventure playground proves to be a big hit with the children, as it includes rope bridges, balancing beams and slides for endless amounts of fun! And of course there are always the tractor rides, sand pits and swings to keep the children occupied. Children using the playground facilities must be supervised at all times.
And if that’s not enough, Matlock Park Farm also have a dedicated horse riding school, where you can experience the fantastic scenery of the Derbyshire countryside. The Two Dales Riding School cater to all abilities, and have a great selection of horses and ponies available, along with fully qualified instructors. The treks venture through farm land with views extending to Riber Castle. It is also possible to book private hacks and lessons as well as lessons and hacks in groups. However, horse and pony riding is considered a risk sport, so individual insurance is recommended.
Back on the farm there are plenty of areas to rest and relax, including the Cafe Barn. With local produce on offer, the cafe provides a variety of food, from snacks to full meals. The farm also put on a special barbeque every bank holiday!
Whilst visiting the farm, be sure to stop by and meet the many animals. Children can meet the guinea pigs and also learn about the new additions to the farm, the meerkats! Matlock Park Farm is a great place to spend the day, especially if you’re visiting with children.
